Can I see a Specialist Physician or Allied Health Professional at Caris if I am not enrolled in the clinic?

Yes. All Allied health providers (Dieticians, physiotherapists, massage therapists and psychologists) will see patients who do not have a family physician at Caris. They do not require a referral. However, preferred pricing is only available to Caris patients. Specialist physicians will also see patients who are not patients at Caris. They require a referral letter from the patient's regular family physician.

What do fees cover?

Fees at Caris, cover medical services that are not included the Alberta Provincial Healthcare Insurance plan (AHCIP). In traditional Family Medicine Clinics you pay as you use each uninsured service. At Caris, you pay once upfront and are not charged later for uninsured services covered in the Terms of Services. Fees do not cover any services that are paid for through AHCIP, including doctor visits and laboratory supplies. Caris Medical Clinic operates with strict adherence to all Federal and Provincial healthcare regulations.

What are the benefits of being a patient at a clinic that is Physician owned?

Physicians in Alberta are regulated through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). As such, physicians must adhere to all CPSA standards of practice. Caris Medical Clinic abides by all CPSA standards.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept many major insurance plans. Coverage varies depending on your provider and individual policy. Our administrative team can help verify your insurance benefits before your appointment so you understand what services are covered.

What if I don’t have insurance?

If you do not have insurance, we offer self-pay options. Our team can discuss the costs of services and available payment options so you can access the care you need without unexpected expenses.

How does billing work?

For patients using insurance, we submit claims directly to your provider. You may be responsible for co-pays, deductibles, or services not covered by your plan. Self-pay patients are typically asked to pay at the time of their appointment.
